Job Summary:

As a MRI Technologist II at Kaiser Permanente, you will operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce high-quality images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. Under the direction of the Chief of Radiology and the Imaging Services Director, you will perform related technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care using efficient and safe processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform patient studies according to set protocol, including placing specified coils close to the area of interest.
  • Operate imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, including keying commands to specify scan sequences into the computer, adjusting transmitters and receivers, and keying in data on the keyboard of the camera to photograph images.
  • Interview patients to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and address patient concerns, exhibiting a high degree of tact, courtesy, and poise when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety, including explaining safety protocol, requesting removal of hazardous metal objects, alerting staff of danger or carrying metal around the magnet, and monitoring patients via closed-circuit TV.
  • Orient new hires and train MRI Technologists, students, and trainees.
  • Train MRI Technologists I in MRI procedures.
  • May be required to direct, check, and train other MRI employees in the absence of the MRI Supervising Technologist.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two (2) years of regular (twenty (20) hours or more per week) continuous recent experience as a MRI Technologist and be fully proficient in all the duties required of a MRI Technologist II to the satisfaction of the department manager.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California).
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California) within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ARRT certification preferred.
