Job Summary:

As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce high-quality images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. Under the direction of the Chief of Radiology and the Imaging Services Director, you will utilize your expertise and independent judgment to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care while maintaining efficient and safe processes.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Perform patient studies according to established protocols, including placing specified coils close to the area of interest.
  2. Operate imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, including keying commands to specify scan sequences into the computer, adjusting transmitters and receivers, and keying in data on the keyboard of the camera to photograph images.
  3. Interview patients to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures, addressing their concerns and exhibiting a high degree of tact, courtesy, and poise when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
  4. Ensure patient and staff safety by explaining safety protocols, requesting the removal of hazardous metal objects, alerting staff of danger or carrying metal around the magnet, and monitoring patients via closed-circuit TV.
  5. Orient new hires and train MRI Technologists, students, and trainees.
  6. Train MRI Technologists I in MRI procedures.
  7. May be required to direct, check, and train other MRI employees in the absence of the MRI Supervising Technologist.
  8. Perform other related duties as necessary.
Basic Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum two (2) years of regular (twenty (20) hours or more per week) continuous recent experience as a MRI Technologist and be fully proficient in all the duties required of a MRI Technologist II to the satisfaction of the department manager.

Education: High School Diploma/GED.

License, Certification, Registration: Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California) and Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California) within 6 months of hire.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in teaching other Technologists.
  • May be required to direct, check, and train other MRI employees.
  • Must be fully proficient in MRI to the full satisfaction of the department manager and have knowledge of the required protocols in performing complex MRI procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other incumbents of the organization.
  • Willingness to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

ARRT certification preferred.
