Position Summary
The In Vivo Pharmacology team at Kite Pharma is looking for a Research Scientist to join our established group. This role involves leading the development and characterization of in vivo murine models and associated ex vivo analyses for various cell therapy initiatives, specifically targeting challenges related to engineered human chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR T cells).
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development and characterization of in vivo murine models for multiple pipeline projects, including specific tumor models and tumor microenvironments.
- Design, plan, execute, document, analyze, and interpret preclinical in vivo studies in alignment with project timelines and objectives.
- Generate mechanistic data from preclinical mouse studies and/or in vitro cell-based assays, employing techniques such as flow cytometry and molecular biology.
- Mentor and support junior team members.
- Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
- Participate in project team meetings and contribute to cross-departmental discussions.
- Embody core values such as passion, courage, teamwork, integrity, and trust.
Basic Qualifications:
- Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) OR
- Master's Degree with 6+ years of scientific experience OR
- Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of scientific experience OR
- High School Diploma/GED with 12+ years of scientific experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Educational background in immunology/cancer immunotherapy and experience with multi-parameter flow cytometry.
- Comprehensive understanding of xenogeneic GvHD mechanisms and murine model immunity.
- Experience with engineered human T cells and other immune cell types.
- Familiarity with T-cell functional characterization assays.
- Proficient in multi-parameter flow and spectral cytometry, as well as data analysis tools.
- Experience in mouse handling and tumor model techniques.
- Knowledge of molecular and cellular biology techniques.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
