OVERVIEW:

Lundbeck La Jolla Research Center, Inc. (LLJRC), a research division of H. Lundbeck A/S, is on the lookout for a passionate and driven Scientist to join the In Vivo Pharmacology team. This role is crucial in supporting preclinical programs within our portfolio, aiming to develop transformative therapies for patients suffering from brain disorders. The ideal candidate will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, leveraging extensive theoretical and practical expertise in in vivo pharmacology to advance Lundbeck's discovery initiatives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver high-quality data consistently to propel project advancement as a member of the in vivo pharmacology team.
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary project teams to innovate and develop high-quality small molecule therapeutics.
  • Conduct approximately 75% of work in the laboratory, focusing on the development and execution of in vivo assays to identify pharmacologically active compounds and assess the mechanisms of action of new drug candidates.
  • Independently design and oversee routine experiments, such as in vivo pharmacokinetic or pharmacology screening of novel compounds.
  • With minimal supervision, propose subsequent steps for projects and contribute to the design and execution of complex experiments, including in vivo pharmacodynamic studies, behavioral assays, and collection of nervous system tissues.
  • Manage experimental design, data documentation and analysis, and prepare reports and presentations for project teams.
  • Ensure ethical animal use in compliance with all regulatory standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years, Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant laboratory experience, or a Ph.D.
  • Proficient in mouse and rat in vivo techniques, including administration of small molecule test articles, blood sampling, and tissue collection.
  • Experienced in developing in vivo disease models and assays.
  • Ability to independently design and manage complex experiments, with a capacity to analyze outcomes and conduct literature reviews to address research inquiries.
  • Excellent skills in collaboration, communication, and presentation.
  • A strong team player and independent contributor, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple tasks while delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in biology, neuroscience, pharmacology, or a related field.
  • Experience with models of neurological diseases.
  • Familiarity with ex vivo tissue processing and analytical assays, including ELISA, MSD, transcriptomics, FACS, and histology is advantageous.
  • Experience managing in vivo pharmacology studies at CROs or academic institutions.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 5%. Occasional international travel may be required.
