Role Overview:

The Product Planning & Performance Team at Amex GBT is focused on enhancing the synergy between product development, technology, and business strategies. This position is based in Chicago, with a hybrid work model requiring in-office attendance on specific days. Our mission is to deliver value through established governance frameworks, processes, and regular business ceremonies that promote trust, visibility, accountability, and ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Governance: Lead the planning process and governance for designated teams, ensuring operational excellence across product technology and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure that team initiatives align with GBT's strategic objectives, facilitating effective decision-making and commitment to project roadmaps.
  • Dependency and Risk Management: Identify and manage cross-team dependencies and risks, influencing delivery timelines for planning milestones.
  • Portfolio Oversight: Provide comprehensive visibility into the product portfolio, celebrating achievements, highlighting risks, and managing communications with partners across the Product organization.
  • Feature Delivery: Support teams in defining, planning, and delivering high-quality features and products, fostering collaboration with partner functions.
  • Documentation and Coaching: Uphold high standards for planning documentation and coach stakeholders on best practices, promoting effective knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate planning processes at the end of each development cycle, identifying operational enhancements and scalable solutions.
  • Capacity Planning: Manage the backlog intake process, ensuring timely assessment of opportunities and facilitating long-term resource planning.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to assess business impacts and investment requirements.
  • Operational Best Practices: Define and implement product operations best practices, ensuring visibility into roadmap delivery and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Computer Science, or a related field, with relevant experience in product or business operations management.
  • Strong analytical skills with a background in business and financial analysis.
  • Systems Design: Proven ability to design and implement effective planning processes and operational systems.
  • Outcome-Driven Programs: Experience in developing and managing programs that achieve measurable results aligned with strategic goals.
  • Development Lifecycle Knowledge: In-depth understanding of product and technology development lifecycles, with experience in Agile methodologies.
  • Bottleneck Analysis: Ability to analyze workflows and identify bottlenecks to enhance team performance.
  • Effective Communication: Strong communication skills to articulate process impacts and benefits to stakeholders.
  • Data Utilization: Experience in leveraging data for decision-making and using visualization tools to influence stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, driving discussions around project execution.
