Patient Financial Services Training Specialist

Overview
MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Training Associate to enhance our Patient Financial Services training division. This position offers a remote work environment; however, candidates must reside within the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area for occasional on-site responsibilities related to special projects and live events at various MedStar Health facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the guidance of the Patient Financial Services (PFS) Training leadership, you will deliver comprehensive training and educational programs to Patient Access and Patient Financial Services staff.
- Training topics encompass system usage (e.g., Siemens Invision), compliance protocols, insurance processes, customer service techniques, and accurate patient identification.
- Regularly monitor and audit Patient Access reports, providing additional training as needed to ensure staff proficiency.

Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree in education or healthcare is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of total experience, including at least 2 years in patient access or financial services, along with 3-4 years in a teaching or training capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Licenses and Certifications: Certification as a Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist - Institutional (CRCS-I) is required within one year of hire.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in delivering training using innovative and effective methodologies while assessing their impact.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Familiarity with hospital registration and billing systems, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and payer billing processes, particularly Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and Blue Cross.
- Experience in utilizing audio-visual equipment for training purposes.
- Capability to conduct training in various formats, including live, web-based, and video presentations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Foster positive relationships with Patient Access Management teams across MedStar Health.
- Conduct audits of Patient Access registrations to ensure accuracy and communicate findings to supervisors.
- Facilitate educational sessions to inform staff of updates and new information.
- Develop and refine training materials for Patient Access and Pre-registration/Verification departments.
- Collaborate with leadership to address system and departmental challenges.
