Overview

MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Training Associate to enhance our Patient Financial Services training division. This position is primarily remote, but candidates must reside within the Baltimore-Washington metro area to accommodate on-site responsibilities for special projects and training events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive training and educational programs for Patient Access and Patient Financial Services staff.
  • Focus areas include system training (e.g., Siemens Invision), compliance, insurance protocols, customer service, and accurate patient identification.
  • Monitor and evaluate Patient Access reports, providing additional training as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; an undergraduate degree in education or healthcare is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in patient access or financial services, along with 3-4 years in a training or educational role.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification as a Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist - Institutional (CRCS-I) is required within one year of hire.

  • Proficient in conducting training using innovative and effective methodologies.
  • Strong customer service, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in hospital registration and billing systems, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology and payer billing processes.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs tailored to various learning environments.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Patient Access Management teams across MedStar Health.
  • Conduct audits of Patient Access registrations to ensure accuracy and report findings.
  • Facilitate ongoing education sessions to inform staff of updates and new procedures.
  • Develop and refine training materials for Patient Access and Pre-registration/Verification departments.
  • Collaborate with leadership to address and resolve system and departmental issues.
