Overview of the Role
MedStar Health offers a Full-Time, daytime, hybrid position within our call center. This role is dedicated to managing a substantial volume of incoming calls to facilitate patient appointment scheduling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides assistance and resolves issues during the appointment scheduling process, including selecting physicians based on specialty or location.
  • Processes calls efficiently while being mindful of call volumes, particularly during peak times.
  • Promotes various locations and specialists available according to established protocols.
  • Exhibits qualities of inquiry, empathy, courtesy, and respect in all communications with clients, ensuring thorough communication among key customer groups.
  • Facilitates the registration of new patients and updates existing patient information.
  • Maintains knowledge of protocols and skills for scheduling across various specialties, achieving established accuracy goals.
  • Responds to inquiries from patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders regarding appointments, referrals, and services, adhering to established guidelines.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate degree is preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience, ideally in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience in a hospital or medical office scheduling context is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • No specific certification, registration, or licensure is required.
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to thrive in a complex work environment with high call volumes, coordinating with various departments, patients, and healthcare providers.
  • Proficient typing skills (40 WPM) and computer literacy, with the capability to navigate diverse systems and the Internet.
  • Aptitude for learning and utilizing scheduling and electronic health record software.
  • Competence in operating standard office equipment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, telephone, and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding service to MedStar clients, demonstrating strong listening skills and empathy towards patients and colleagues.
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, maintaining composure in stressful situations and effectively managing upset patients.
  • Self-motivated with strong multitasking abilities.
