MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated individual for a Full-Time, day shift, hybrid role within our call center. This position is essential for managing a significant volume of incoming calls to facilitate patient appointment scheduling.

Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent is mandatory.
  • An Associate degree is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree in healthcare or a related field is advantageous.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced customer service environment, preferably in a medical office setting, is required.
  • 1-2 years of telephonic experience, typically gained in a call center, front desk reception, hospital, or medical office scheduling context is necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Exceptional customer service skills are crucial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities are essential.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required.
  • Capability to navigate multiple technology platforms concurrently while engaging with callers.
  • Typing speed of 40 WPM with accuracy is expected.
  • Highly organized and process-oriented with the ability to multitask and adapt.
  • Ability to follow procedures and assist patients without compromising safety or service quality.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with patients and visitors.
  • Exhibit a positive and professional image consistently.
  • Empathize with and prioritize patient needs, providing suitable solutions.
  • Remain composed and compassionate in high-pressure situations.
  • Demonstrate effective learning and decision-making capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist patients via telephone, directing inquiries to the appropriate clinical and non-clinical team members.
  • Efficiently and accurately complete preliminary intake processes, including patient updates, registration, and appointment scheduling based on insurance guidelines.
  • Utilize various MedStar Health business applications to meet caller needs effectively.
  • Conduct insurance verifications to ensure accurate claims submissions.
  • Maintain knowledge of scheduling protocols to achieve accuracy and meet established call metrics.
  • Handle inbound calls proficiently, identifying and assessing caller needs swiftly and accurately.
