Job Overview

The Recovery Center of Maryland, LLC is dedicated to empowering individuals to overcome addiction to alcohol and drugs while striving to diminish the prevalence of addiction in future generations. The Outreach and Referral Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering partnerships with community providers and developing a robust referral network for our treatment services.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain direct relationships with community members to facilitate self-referrals into our services.
  • Develop connections with shelters, transitional housing programs, probation and parole services, local hospitals, and inpatient facilities to enhance networking and referral opportunities.
  • Utilize a strengths-based and trauma-informed methodology to collaborate effectively with clients and both internal and external teams, supporting clients in their recovery journey.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, including adherence to the agency's Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Document and monitor referral information and sources to track engagement and outcomes.
  • Analyze referral trends and contribute to improvement initiatives based on insights gathered.
  • Participate actively in assigned meetings, staff development sessions, and required training.

Essential Skills:
  • Proficient knowledge of community relations and outreach strategies.
  • Understanding of the objectives of various public services and programs.
  • Familiarity with community resources available for individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Awareness of local community needs and public resources.
  • Experience in managing outreach and recruitment programs.
  • Exceptional customer service skills when interacting with clients and referral sources.
  • Ability to effectively utilize spreadsheets, databases, and draft written communications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Work Schedule:
  • Full-time position, requiring 40 hours of work per week.
  • Flexible hours available with prior supervisor approval, allowing for fieldwork and remote tasks.
  • Availability to handle referral calls during late evenings and early mornings for screenings and communication with the clinical team.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in community outreach.
  • Strong interpersonal and engagement capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Commitment to the agency's mission and philosophy, with sensitivity to cultural diversity and workplace harmony.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service.

Additional Requirements:
  • Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues, the public, and clients.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license, with adequate automobile insurance.
  • Travel is a necessary component of this role.
  • Capability to operate standard office equipment, including telephones and computers.
  • Ability to produce clear and legible written communication.
  • Willingness to thrive in a high-pressure environment driven by team performance.
