POSITION SUMMARY:

Role Overview:

The Medical College of Wisconsin is actively seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to enhance the Transplant ICU Solid Organ Transplant services. This role is integral to the multidisciplinary team at our health center, focusing on providing exceptional care to patients undergoing abdominal organ transplantation.

The Transplant Surgery Division is dedicated to delivering advanced transplant-related services, conducting innovative laboratory and clinical research, and educating future healthcare professionals.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will play a crucial role in ensuring high standards of patient care, safety, and quality improvement while contributing to the educational mission of the institution.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing their career in a critical care environment and will thrive in a collaborative academic setting.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to diagnose and manage conditions necessitating Transplant Surgery interventions.
  • Documenting patient progress and treatment plans accurately and promptly.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, ensuring effective communication of results.
  • Performing advanced procedures as permitted by the Transplant Surgery services.
  • Facilitating continuity of care through effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Staying informed on the latest developments in the fields of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants through ongoing education and professional development.

Additionally, the APP will engage in daily rounds, provide comprehensive patient reports, and perform various clinical procedures, including suturing and wound management.
