The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a crucial role within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, contributing to program management, patient care, safety, research, quality enhancement, and education.

The Department of Pediatrics - Division of Genetics is in search of a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to enhance the Pediatric Genetics team. This role involves delivering professional healthcare services to patients and their families, assisting in the diagnostic and therapeutic management of diverse patient groups within the Genetics clinic.

The Pediatric Genetics section is dedicated to offering compassionate, high-quality clinical care while advancing the health of the communities we serve. Our focus includes pioneering therapies for genetic disorders and providing interdisciplinary care for patients throughout Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Pediatric Genetics team to address the healthcare needs of patients with various genetic conditions.
  • Conduct patient examinations and document comprehensive medical histories.
  • Analyze and synthesize patient data to inform care decisions.
  • Establish differential diagnoses based on assessment findings.
  • Select and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Prioritize care effectively and make independent treatment decisions.
  • Assess the educational needs of patients and families, creating culturally sensitive teaching plans.
  • Document admission, discharge, and transfer orders under physician supervision.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in line with established protocols.
  • Stay informed on the latest developments in pediatrics and genetics through continuous education and professional engagement.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research as appropriate.
