POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Senior Systems Engineer focused on Post-Production, you will deliver expert technical assistance for a variety of production systems utilized by our teams to craft content across multiple formats, including commercials, brand narratives, animatics, digital content, films, documentaries, and training materials. You will be a versatile engineer with a passion for troubleshooting and a proactive mindset, supporting a wide array of production technologies integral to post-production processes. Proficiency in Mac systems and a broad technological skill set will be essential to provide efficient systems and services to video editors, VFX specialists, retouchers, and designers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Offer daily production support to the studio as needed.
  • Install, maintain, and resolve issues with equipment related to various post-production processes.
  • Ensure the production environment infrastructure remains stable and fully operational.
  • Oversee and enhance the performance of server storage systems, networks, and file processing/delivery mechanisms.
  • Design effective workflows and pipelines for post-production services, prioritizing functionality, usability, and security.
  • Conduct necessary maintenance activities, including:
    • Management and configuration of on-premises and cloud servers.
    • Regular preventative maintenance tasks.
    • Keeping all documentation and records current and effectively communicated.
  • Monitor and ensure all technical facilities meet operational standards, including aligning visual and audio monitoring to specified criteria.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and third parties to develop technical solutions.
  • Assist with compliance documentation for audits.
  • Engage in new and existing infrastructure deployments, coordinating projects with IT services to ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Work collaboratively across all IT disciplines to resolve issues.
  • Manage studio software licenses.
  • Support remote editorial workflows, including VPN and remote desktop setups.
  • Install hardware components, perform firmware updates, and troubleshoot cabling issues.
  • Provide setup and support for Sonnet PCI Chassis.
  • Understand hardware requirements for rendering high-resolution video files, ensuring workstations are optimized for peak performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar production setting.
  • Current knowledge and enthusiasm for technology related to media and post-production.
  • Experience in supporting editorial systems and workflows.
  • Solid understanding of various media file formats, networking principles, and systems administration.
  • Ability to independently identify and resolve technical challenges while effectively collaborating within a team.
  • Strong knowledge of studio-specific applications, including Adobe, Maxon, Resolve, Autodesk, and font management tools.
  • Familiarity with studio automation tools and workflow management.
  • Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient in problem identification and resolution.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure architecture.
  • Intermediate understanding of source control systems.
  • Intermediate skills in Linux and Windows system administration.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD processes.
  • Knowledge of audio signal flow in a post-production context.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The salary range for this role is between $100,000 and $110,000. Compensation will be determined based on various factors, including market conditions, budget considerations, and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
