As a Lead Systems Engineer focusing on Post-Production Services, you will deliver expert technical assistance for a variety of production systems utilized by our teams to craft content across multiple formats, including commercials, brand narratives, animatics, digital media, documentaries, and training materials. You will be a versatile engineer who excels in troubleshooting and possesses a proactive mindset, supporting a wide array of production technologies within the post-production processes. Proficiency in Mac systems and diverse technological skills will be essential to guarantee the effective operation of systems and services for video editors, VFX professionals, retouchers, and graphic artists.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide ongoing production support to the studio as needed.
  • Install, maintain, and resolve issues with equipment related to various post-production workflows.
  • Ensure a stable and fully operational production environment infrastructure is upheld.
  • Monitor and enhance the performance of server storage systems, networks, and file processing/delivery systems.
  • Design efficient workflows and pipelines for post-production services with a focus on functionality, usability, and security.
  • Conduct relevant maintenance tasks, including:
  • On-Premises & cloud server configurations, management, and administration duties
  • Regular preventative maintenance schedules
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and records, ensuring effective communication.
  • Oversee and ensure all technical facilities and related areas are operational and meet standards, including aligning visual and audio monitoring.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and third parties to develop technical solutions.
  • Assist with compliance documentation for audits.
  • Participate in new and existing infrastructure deployments and coordinate projects with IT services to provide site designs according to established standards.
  • Work collaboratively across all IT disciplines for problem resolution.
  • Manage studio software licenses.
  • Monitor and support storage hardware (knowledge of SAN preferred).
  • Facilitate remote editorial workflows, logins, and setups (VPN, HP RGS, etc.).
  • Install hardware components, perform firmware updates, and troubleshoot wiring and cabling.
  • Set up and support Sonnet PCI Chassis.
  • Understand hardware requirements for rendering and managing high-resolution video files, ensuring workstations are optimized for peak performance.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar production environment.
  • Current knowledge and enthusiasm for technology related to media and post-production.
  • Experience in supporting editorial systems and workflows.
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with various media file formats, network fundamentals, and systems administration.
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical issues independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of studio-specific applications, including Adobe, Maxon, Resolve, Autodesk, GenStudio, and font management tools.
  • Prior exposure to studio automation tools and workflow management.
  • Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Proficient in timely problem identification and resolution.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure architecture.
  • Intermediate understanding of source control.
  • Intermediate skills in Linux and Windows system administration.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD (Jenkins automation).
  • Knowledge of audio signal flow in a post-production context.

SALARY RANGE:

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000. Compensation will depend on various factors, including current/former employee ranges, market conditions, budget considerations, tenure, and the applicant's background, experience, and qualifications.
