POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Senior Systems Engineer focused on Post-Production, you will deliver technical assistance for a variety of production systems utilized by our teams to craft content across multiple formats, including commercials, brand narratives, animatics, digital content, documentaries, and training materials. You will be a versatile engineer who excels in troubleshooting and possesses a proactive mindset, supporting a diverse array of production technologies within the post-production framework. Proficiency in Mac systems and a broad technical skill set will be essential to ensure the effective operation of systems and services for video editors, VFX specialists, and other creative professionals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide ongoing production support to the studio as needed.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment related to various post-production processes.
- Ensure the stability and functionality of the production environment infrastructure.
- Monitor and enhance the performance of server storage systems, networks, and file processing/delivery systems.
- Design efficient workflows and pipelines for post-production services, emphasizing functionality, usability, and security.
- Conduct necessary housekeeping tasks, including:
- Management and administration of on-premises and cloud server configurations.
- Routine preventative maintenance schedules.
- Maintain and communicate up-to-date documentation and records.
- Ensure all technical facilities meet operational standards, including aligning picture and audio monitors.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and third parties to develop technical solutions.
- Assist with SOX and Internal Audit documentation for the site.
- Participate in the deployment of new and existing infrastructure, coordinating projects with IT services to adhere to documented standards.
- Work collaboratively across all IT disciplines to resolve issues.
- Administer software licenses for the studio.
- Support remote editorial workflows, including VPN and remote access setups.
- Install hardware components, perform firmware updates, and troubleshoot cabling issues.
- Set up and support Sonnet PCI Chassis hardware.
- Understand hardware requirements for rendering high-resolution video files, ensuring workstations are optimized for performance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar production environment.
- Current knowledge and enthusiasm for technology related to media and post-production.
- Experience in supporting editorial systems and workflows.
- Solid understanding of various media file formats, network fundamentals, and systems administration practices.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical issues independently while also working effectively in a team.
- Strong knowledge of studio-specific applications, including Adobe, Maxon, Resolve, Autodesk, and font management tools.
- Familiarity with studio automation tools and workflow management.
- Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Proven problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure architecture.
- Intermediate understanding of source control systems.
- Intermediate skills in Linux and Windows system administration.
- Basic knowledge of CI/CD practices.
- Understanding of audio signal flow in a post-production context.
