Position Overview

We are in search of an innovative and strategic Chief Executive Officer to guide the Calfee Community Cultural Center (CCCC) in fulfilling its mission and strategic vision. The CEO will oversee all facets of the organization’s operations, including program innovation, fundraising initiatives, financial stewardship, and community involvement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership capabilities, a dedication to community enhancement, and a strong commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to define, develop, and execute strategic plans that propel the mission and objectives of Calfee Community Cultural Center, Inc.

- Foster an organizational environment that embraces inclusivity, transparency, accountability, and teamwork.

- Recruit, mentor, and empower key staff members to design and implement vital CCCC programs such as the Harmon Learning Center, the Huckstep Kitchen, and the African American Heritage Center.

- Create and launch innovative programs and initiatives that address community needs and enhance cultural awareness, including future projects like the Broadneaux-Baker Event Hall, the Venable Digital Lab, and the Sankofa Walk.

- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of staff, consultants, and volunteers to ensure exceptional program delivery, evaluation, and communication both internally and externally.

- Build and sustain robust relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to bolster fundraising efforts and secure necessary financial resources for the organization.

- Oversee the daily operations of the center, including budgeting, staffing, and management of facilities and grounds.

- Act as the primary representative and advocate for CCCC within the community, media, and other platforms.

- Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in community development, cultural programming, and nonprofit management.

- Secure funding and ensure compliance with state and federal historic tax credit regulations.

- Manage grant writing and reporting related to construction projects.

- Supervise construction initiatives, including conducting monthly worker interviews, audits, and ensuring compliance with federal labor standards for federally funded projects.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, cultural studies, industrial/organizational psychology, or a related discipline.

- At least 5 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit or community-focused environment, with a proven record in program development, fundraising, and strategic planning.

- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals from various cultural backgrounds.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building relationships and collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders.

- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset and meticulous attention to detail.

- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with fundraising software and database management systems is preferred.

- Experience in supervising and developing a team of staff and volunteers.

- Grant management experience or a willingness to learn, including writing, reporting, and compliance.

- Basic accounting knowledge or a willingness to learn, with the ability to oversee financial operations, budgeting, and reporting.

- A passion for community development and a strong commitment to the mission and values of Calfee Community Cultural Center Inc.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess situations, make informed decisions, and effectively resolve complex issues.

- Proven experience in community outreach and engagement, with a history of building and maintaining partnerships with diverse community members and organizations.

- Strong project management skills with the capability to plan, execute, and evaluate programs and initiatives effectively.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey the organization’s mission and goals to various audiences.

- Adaptability and flexibility to navigate and lead through change and uncertainty.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master’s degree is preferred.

- Experience in federal grant management.

- Background in construction project management.

- Familiarity with historic tax credit processes.

About Calfee Community Cultural Center

CalfeeCCC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established to revitalize the legacy of the historic Calfee Training School, which served African Americans in Pulaski. The center aims to create a multipurpose facility that includes an African American Heritage Center, an early learning center, a community kitchen, an event space, and a digital lab, all designed to meet the current needs of the community and foster a stronger future.
