About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our team at Calfee Community and Cultural Center. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our operations, including program development, fundraising, financial management, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with our Board of Directors to identify, create, and implement strategic plans to advance our mission and goals.
  • Cultural Leadership: Cultivate an organizational culture that welcomes diversity, promotes transparency, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Program Development: Identify, hire, and support lead staff members to develop and lead key programs, including the Harmon Learning Center, the Huckstep Kitchen, and the African American Heritage Center.
  • Community Engagement: Develop and implement innovative programs and initiatives that meet the needs of our community and promote cultural understanding.
  • Team Management: Build, lead, and mentor a team of staff, consultants, and volunteers to ensure high-quality program delivery, evaluation, and internal and external communications.

  • Professional Development: Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in community development, cultural programming, and nonprofit management.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, cultural studies, I/O psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit organization or community-based setting, with a proven track record of success in program development, fundraising, and strategic planning.
  • Skills: Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, while managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with fundraising software and database management systems preferred.
  • Supervisory Experience: Supervisory experience with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Grant Management: Grant management experience or willingness to learn; including writing, reporting, and compliance.
  • Financial Management: Basic accounting knowledge or willingness to learn; with the ability to oversee financial operations, budgeting, and reporting.
