Position Overview:

This role is classified as a Reserve Position, stationed at Patrick SFB. The selected candidate will operate under a Temporary Duty (TDY) status until a permanent downrange rotational position becomes available. This role requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally for up to 180 days each year, typically in 45-60 day intervals until a permanent position is secured.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute flight operations, gathering essential information regarding flight objectives, weather conditions, operational protocols, and specific instructions.
  • Ensure the availability of a complete flight kit on board.
  • Verify that all necessary airworthiness inspections are completed and that any previous issues have been addressed or appropriately deferred in accordance with the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) for the aircraft.
  • Oversee or conduct the preflight inspection and preparation of the aircraft.
  • Ensure the proper loading, distribution, and security of cargo and passengers.
  • Confirm that the aircraft's weight and balance remain within prescribed limits.
  • Maintain accurate records of flight maintenance logs, load manifests, and discrepancy reports, ensuring copies are submitted to the Site Manager upon completion of each flight.
  • Retain ultimate responsibility for logging flight hours and managing flight plans and duty time records.
  • Ensure passenger safety and maintain ramp security during boarding and disembarking.
  • Assign direct reports to assist individuals requiring help during potential emergency evacuations.
  • Conduct pre-flight briefings for all passengers or delegate this responsibility while retaining overall accountability.
  • Delegate tasks to direct reports while maintaining overall responsibility for operations.
  • Perform routine travel within the continental United States as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate for Rotorcraft Helicopter.
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
  • A minimum of 1,500 total rotary wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine experience.
  • Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with at least 300 hours of NVG experience.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Ability to pass physical screening requirements.
  • Possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.
