Job Overview:


The Department of Comparative, Diagnostic, and Population Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) is seeking a dedicated faculty member to enhance our Anatomic Pathology service. This full-time position on the clinical track is aimed at individuals aspiring to serve as an Assistant or Associate Professor in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology.

The successful candidate will engage in and support our biopsy and necropsy services, as well as contribute to the educational initiatives of the Anatomic Pathology Service within the UF Veterinary Hospitals. Collaboration in research endeavors is also a vital aspect of this role.

Teaching duties will encompass both didactic and clinical training for professional students and residents, with additional opportunities for mentoring graduate students.

The UF College of Veterinary Medicine ranks seventh among veterinary colleges in the United States and is uniquely positioned within a top 10 public research university.

Located on campus, the College enjoys close proximity to the College of Medicine and various Health Sciences units, fostering numerous opportunities for collaborative and translational research.

The Veterinary Anatomic Pathology service comprises a team of nine faculty members and six residents, supported by a skilled necropsy and histology staff. There are also opportunities to contribute to established veterinary specialty services, particularly in dermatopathology.

The University of Florida is one of the few veterinary colleges in the nation offering a specialized veterinary dermatopathology service, which boasts a significant caseload and a loyal clientele, collaborating closely with dermatologists and general practitioners.

The aim is to further develop this service, attract new clients, and support our dermatology team in both diagnostic and research capacities, reinforcing our leadership in this field.

The Anatomic Pathology residency program spans three years, designed to equip trainees for potential careers in academia and diagnostics. The University of Florida Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories consist of committed professionals dedicated to excellence in diagnostics, enhancing both animal and human health.

Compensation:
Salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.

Essential Qualifications:

A DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited institution, along with completion of a veterinary anatomic pathology residency training program or equivalent experience, is required. Candidates must be ACVP or ECVP board eligible or certified, with demonstrated experience in diagnostic biopsy and necropsy, including the ability to independently sign out cases.



Desirable Qualifications:
Experience or interest in dermatopathology is preferred.
