Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Estimator to oversee a diverse portfolio of large-scale, mission-critical commercial real estate and infrastructure projects for our esteemed clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and present comprehensive cost estimates and planning, culminating in the final cost plan.
  • Capable of estimating at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies and prepare procurement reports.
  • Manage all procurement aspects, including pre-qualification, bid list generation, bid analysis, bid reporting, and compilation of contractual documents.
  • Effectively engage in post-contract cost variances and change control processes, escalating significant changes to the line manager as necessary.
  • Conduct cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring a timely and accurate cost checking and valuation process.
  • Generate monthly post-contract cost reports and present findings to clients.
  • Provide insights into value engineering and negotiate final accounts.
  • Maintain communication with clients and other consultants throughout all project stages.
  • Offer leadership to the cost management team when required, ensuring accountability in all deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for business development with existing clients and report these to the appropriate line manager, utilizing the marketing database.
  • Suggest enhancements for cost management procedures, templates, and products, referring ideas to the relevant line manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong technical experience in all areas of cost management, including pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCad Navisworks, and other relevant software.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and a collaborative team player.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various construction procurement methods.
  • Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • Familiarity with key aspects of business development.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience across multiple industry sectors.

Education and Experience:

  • Proven experience in preparing mechanical cost estimates for complex construction projects.
  • Background in managing mechanical or MEP estimates on large-scale data centers, high-tech facilities, manufacturing, commercial real estate, or similar construction projects is advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems as they relate to construction projects.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems.
