Position Overview
The Junior Estimation Specialist will be introduced to JE Dunn's methodologies and tools, developing essential skills while assisting in the creation of cost estimates for both competitive bids and negotiated projects. This role offers a comprehensive view of the construction and estimation processes, fostering a deeper understanding of how we execute our projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimating Functions: Conduct quantity surveys of materials as indicated in project plans.
  • Review and summarize project specifications.
  • Maintain a thorough audit trail of quantity surveys across estimates.
  • Assist in vendor and subcontractor pricing and bid coordination.
  • Facilitate the distribution of plans and specifications to relevant parties.
  • Collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Gain hands-on estimating experience and exposure to field operations through onsite project support as opportunities arise.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and construction estimating software.
  • Understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction management practices and methodologies.
  • Capacity to learn and apply quantity surveying techniques.
  • Familiarity with specific trades and scopes of work.
  • Understanding of Lean principles and collaborative teamwork.

Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred. However, equivalent relevant experience will also be considered. Entry-level construction experience is beneficial.

Work Environment
This role may require lifting up to 10 pounds and occasional overnight travel. Flexibility to work non-traditional hours may be necessary to meet project demands. The position is primarily office-based but may involve exposure to various environmental conditions.
