Position Overview

Turner & Townsend is on the lookout for a seasoned Mechanical Estimator to oversee a remarkable portfolio of large-scale, mission-critical commercial real estate and infrastructure projects for prominent clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and present comprehensive cost estimates and planning, culminating in the final cost plan.
  • Estimate costs at various stages, including conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies and prepare procurement documentation.
  • Manage all procurement phases, including pre-qualification, bid list creation, bid analysis, report generation, and contract documentation.
  • Engage in post-contract cost variance assessments and change control processes, escalating significant changes to management as necessary.
  • Conduct cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring a precise and timely valuation process.
  • Generate monthly post-contract cost reports for client presentations.
  • Participate in value engineering discussions and negotiate final accounts.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and other consultants throughout all project phases.
  • Provide leadership to the cost management team when required, ensuring accountability for all deliverables.
  • Identify and report opportunities for business development with existing clients, utilizing the marketing database.
  • Suggest enhancements for cost management procedures, templates, and products, forwarding ideas to management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong technical background in all aspects of cost management, including pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCad Navisworks, and related software.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively.
  • Comprehensive understanding of various construction procurement methods.
  • Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • Familiarity with key business development components.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience across multiple industry sectors.

Education and Experience:

  • Proven experience in preparing mechanical cost estimates for complex construction projects.
  • Experience managing mechanical or MEP estimates on large-scale data centers, high-tech facilities, manufacturing, or commercial real estate projects is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems as they relate to construction.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems.
