Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Physicist to join our team as a Radiation Safety Expert. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe use of radiation and radioactive materials in our facilities, as well as supervising the work of Diagnostic Medical Physicists, Medical Physicist Assistants, and Technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and Maintain Radiation Safety Programs
    • Develop and implement radiation safety protocols for the use of radioactive materials and x-rays in diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine.
    • Conduct regular audits, testing, and contamination surveys to ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations.
    • Monitor radiation exposure to patients, staff, and the general public, and maintain accurate records for government agencies.
  • Supervise and Train Staff
    • Supervise the work of Diagnostic Medical Physicists, Medical Physicist Assistants, and Technicians to ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols.
    • Provide training and education to staff on radiation safety procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams
    • Work closely with the Radiation Safety Committee to ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations and standards.
    • Collaborate with clinical services to optimize MRI-based clinical and research imaging protocols.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Developments
    • Stay current with the latest developments in radiation safety and medical physics.
    • Participate in professional organizations and conferences to stay informed about best practices and new technologies.
Requirements
  • Education
    • PhD degree in a relevant field, such as medical physics or radiation safety.
  • Certifications
    • American Board of Radiology certification in Diagnostic Medical Physics.
    • American Board of Radiology certification in Radiological Physics.
    • American Board of Radiology certification in Medical Physics.
    • American Board of Science certification in Nuclear Medicine – Nuclear Medicine Physics & Instrumentation.
    • American Board of Medical Physics certification in Magnetic Imaging Resonance Physics.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in radiation safety and medical physics.
  • Skills
    • Strong knowledge of radiation safety regulations and standards.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
