As a senior-level position in the Compensation Consultant series, the incumbent will serve as a subject matter expert and manage various compensation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee compensation initiatives, including the design and execution of new compensation frameworks and process enhancement projects. Engage with stakeholders to assess requirements and define project scope, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
- Act as a technical resource in compensation matters, interpreting relevant federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards related to employee compensation practices. Provide training to Compensation Consultants on established procedures and requests.
- Collaborate with business partners to identify suitable compensation strategies that align with agency recruitment and retention goals.
- Handle specialized, complex assignments impacting multiple agencies, serving as an expert in the state's classification and compensation practices.
- Address intricate inquiries regarding the development, implementation, and management of compensation programs, policies, and processes to meet business needs and uphold the State's Compensation Philosophy.
- Conduct research and analysis of compensation data from both internal and external sources to inform compensation strategies and decisions, ensuring alignment with market trends.
- Perform job analysis to create or update job classification specifications. Review organizational structures to assess reporting relationships and career pathways, gathering comparative occupational data through interviews with subject matter experts.
- Engage in compensation surveys to gather and provide salary information, preparing reports that summarize findings and recommend future adjustments impacting pay.
- Participate in the evaluation of departmental policies and procedures, proposing enhancements that will improve operational efficiency and service quality.
- Review and authorize employee salary adjustments and position actions to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and departmental guidelines.
