Position Summary:

The role involves devising practical and innovative strategies to enhance both in-process and final product quality by: (1) Integrating Voice of the Employee (VOE), Voice of the Customer (VOC), trends from customer complaints, and in-process audit data into product and process design and equipment selection plans; (2) Initiating and facilitating operator training and certification programs; (3) Effectively addressing and resolving manufacturing quality issues through robust corrective actions within the framework of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and data-driven decision-making; (4) Standardizing processes across the organization for core manufacturing and testing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate closely with Operations and the Corporate Quality team to:

  • Lead customer-centric manufacturing quality enhancement projects from inception to realization of improved outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to FXI's Quality Management System (QMS), ISO:9001, and IATF16949 standards at facilities within the designated region.
  • Prepare advanced quality planning documentation and engage in quality planning activities, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Process Flow Diagrams, Control Charts, and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies.
  • Utilize key metrics data to formulate Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) improvement strategies, present them to plant leadership, and facilitate implementation through employee training.
  • Provide quality engineering expertise and leverage specialized skills within the quality domain.
  • Drive the corrective and preventive action program from initiation to resolution.
  • Establish positive relationships and collaborate with plant quality managers to manage and implement engineering changes, process enhancements, and new product introductions.
  • Deliver measurable results as indicated by key metrics such as defect rates, parts per million (PPM), returned credits, cost of quality, and closure of corrective actions.
  • Develop plant- and product-specific training programs to enhance quality awareness among employees.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to create layered process audits and train stakeholders.
  • Participate in Corporate Quality Audits and third-party audits.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a Quality Engineer capacity within the automotive sector or with automotive clients.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience, preferably in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.

Position Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of metrology, statistics, and statistical methodologies including Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Proficient knowledge of FMEAs, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Calibration, and Six Sigma principles.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in a collaborative team environment.
  • Able to manage multiple complex situations daily and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in information technology tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and statistical analysis software).
  • Certification by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Certified Quality Manager (CQM) is highly desirable.

Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
