Chief Compliance Officer Job Description

Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center is seeking a seasoned Compliance Professional to lead our compliance program and ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Compliance Strategies: Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive compliance program aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Leadership: Foster a culture of compliance and ethical conduct by working closely with senior management and department directors.
  • Consult on Compliance Matters: Provide expert advice and guidance on compliance issues to administration, medical staff, and department directors.
  • Conduct Risk-Based Compliance Testing: Develop and implement risk-based compliance testing of existing procedures and controls to identify, detect, and correct noncompliance.
  • Review and Analyze Reports: Review and analyze reports in relation to compliance, ensuring timely and effective responses to regulatory inquiries and audits.
  • Oversee Compliance Staff: Supervise and manage the compliance team, providing guidance and support to ensure effective compliance program implementation.
  • Facilitate Work Process Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address compliance-related issues.
  • Stay Up-to-Date on Industry Developments: Stay abreast of healthcare laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance and identify emerging compliance challenges.
  • Conduct Regular Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Develop and Implement Policies and Procedures: Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate compliance risks and ensure effective compliance program implementation.
  • Oversee Compliance Training and Education: Develop and implement compliance training and education programs for all employees, ensuring a culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
  • Conduct Internal Audits and Investigations: Conduct internal audits and investigations to assess compliance with laws and regulations, ensuring timely and effective responses to regulatory inquiries and audits.
  • Collaborate with Legal Counsel: Collaborate with legal counsel to address compliance-related legal issues and ensure effective compliance program implementation.
  • Develop and Maintain Effective Relationships: Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, and internal departments.
  • Monitor Industry Trends: Monitor industry trends and emerging compliance challenges, ensuring the compliance program remains effective and up-to-date.
  • Provide Leadership and Guidance: Provide leadership and guidance to the compliance team, ensuring effective compliance program implementation and a culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
Requirements:
  • Advanced Degree: Advanced degree in healthcare administration, law, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 Years Experience: Minimum 10 years experience in healthcare compliance, with a strong understanding of healthcare laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Strong Knowledge of Healthcare Laws: Strong knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and industry standards, including HIPAA, Stark, Anti-Kickback, and False Claims Act.
  • Proven Leadership and Management Skills: Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address compliance-related issues.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management, department directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Must Read, Write, Speak, and Understand English: Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
Physical Demands:

The worker is subject to substantial overtime, evening meetings, on-call status, contact with chemicals, contact with infectious fluids, heavy lifting, constant standing, extensive close work, extensive computer work, and encounters with upset/disturbed individuals.
