Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, this role involves overseeing customer and supplier interactions throughout the new product introduction process. The position is responsible for evaluating, completing, and submitting documentation required by customers. Additionally, it provides leadership and support to Quality Technicians.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates the assessment and completion of submitted Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs).
  • Prepares 8-D reports, implements 5S methodologies, and conducts thorough investigations as mandated by customers.
  • Coordinates submissions for Product Safety and Optimization (PSO).
  • Designs and executes Design of Experiments (DOE) as necessary.
  • Assists in monitoring and coordinating engineering modifications.
  • Oversees color compliance for products.
  • Ensures adherence to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) across all assigned product lines.
  • Develops and maintains control plans.
  • Conducts capability studies and gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) assessments.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to Quality Technicians.
  • Maintains a proactive approach to safety, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations in line with company policies and relevant legislation.
  • Ensures a safe working environment for all employees and visitors by maintaining safety and housekeeping standards, identifying and rectifying hazards.
  • Responds promptly to all incidents, including injuries, accidents, and property damage.
  • Actively participates in the division's safety initiatives by conducting regular inspections and effectively investigating incidents.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If there are concerns regarding equipment or workplace conditions that may pose a risk to employees or violate safety regulations, it is imperative to notify management immediately. Any issues that could compromise customer requirements or the quality of testing and production must also be reported without delay.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in quality engineering within the automotive manufacturing sector.
  • Proven experience in managing customer and supplier relationships during the New Product Launch Process, including the evaluation and submission of required documentation such as control plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FEMA), PPAP, lab submissions, and approvals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of statistical methods (e.g., Red X, Taguchi Techniques, Disciplined Problem Solving, Statistical Process Control).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical presentations.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with a track record of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and enhance processes through performance metrics.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires work in both office and manufacturing settings. Normal mobility is necessary to navigate the office environment, and the ability to perform standard tasks at a computer is essential. The role may involve exposure to varying temperatures within the manufacturing facility. Physical activities may include walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
