Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing customer and supplier interactions throughout the new product introduction process. The position involves evaluating, completing, and submitting necessary documentation as required by clients. Additionally, it provides leadership and support to Quality Technicians.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates the assessment and completion of submitted Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs).
  • Prepares 8-D reports, implements 5S methodologies, and conducts comprehensive investigations as mandated by clients.
  • Coordinates submissions for Product Safety Observations (PSO).
  • Designs and executes Design of Experiments (DOE) studies as needed.
  • Assists in the management and tracking of engineering modifications.
  • Monitors compliance with color specifications.
  • Ensures adherence to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) across all assigned product categories.
  • Develops and maintains control plans.
  • Conducts capability studies and gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) assessments.
  • Provides mentorship and direction to Quality Technicians.
  • Exhibits a proactive attitude towards safety, adhering to all safety policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Complies with all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations in line with company protocols and relevant legislation.
  • Guarantees a safe working environment for all employees and visitors by maintaining safety and housekeeping standards, and addressing any identified hazards.
  • Responds promptly to all incidents involving injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, and property damage.
  • Actively participates in the division's safety initiatives by conducting regular inspections and effectively investigating incidents.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Any concerns regarding equipment, workplace conditions, or tasks that may compromise customer requirements or the integrity of test results must also be reported without delay.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in quality engineering within the automotive manufacturing sector.
  • Proven experience in managing customer and supplier relationships throughout the New Product Launch Process, including the evaluation and submission of essential documentation such as control plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FEMA), PPAP, laboratory submissions, and other related reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient understanding of statistical methods (e.g., Red X, Taguchi Techniques, Disciplined Problem Solving, Statistical Process Control) and production quality systems.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical presentations.
  • Strong organizational capabilities with the ability to manage multiple tasks within set and evolving deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor improvement processes through performance metrics.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role involves work in both office and manufacturing settings. Candidates should have normal mobility to navigate an office environment and perform standard tasks at a computer. Exposure to varying temperatures in the manufacturing plant is common, and the role requires frequent walking, standing, gripping, bending, and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds, with occasional lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
