JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, oversees interactions with clients and suppliers throughout the new product introduction process and assesses, finalizes, and submits necessary documentation as required by customers. Offers support and direction to Quality Technicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitates the completion and assessment of submitted Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs).
  • Completes 8-D reports, 5S audits, and Drill Deep and Wide assessments as mandated by clients.
  • Coordinates submissions for Product Safety Observations (PSO).
  • Designs and conducts Design of Experiments (DOE) studies as needed.
  • Assists in monitoring and coordinating engineering modifications.
  • Tracks color compliance for products.
  • Ensures adherence to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) across all assigned product lines.
  • Develops and maintains control plans.
  • Conducts capability studies and gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) assessments.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to Quality Technicians.
  • Exhibits a proactive attitude towards safety, adheres to safety protocols, and complies with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations in line with company policies and applicable legislation.
  • Guarantees a safe environment for all employees and visitors by maintaining safety and housekeeping standards; identifies, rectifies, and/or eliminates hazards, unsafe practices, or unsafe conditions.
  • Responds to and investigates all incidents of injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, and property damage without delay.
  • Actively participates in the division's safety initiatives by conducting regular workplace inspections, promptly investigating incidents, and contributing to the achievement of safety objectives.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification/Licensure:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in quality engineering within an automotive manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in managing client and supplier relationships throughout the New Product Launch Process and in the evaluation, completion, and submission of required documentation, including but not limited to control plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FEMA), PPAP, laboratory submissions, and 8D reports.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficient understanding of statistical methods (e.g., Red X, Taguchi Methods, Disciplined Problem Solving, Statistical Process Control (SPC) Gage R&R) and production quality systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional communication skills: verbal, written, and technical presentations.
  • Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks within established and shifting deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor improvement processes through performance metrics.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Work is conducted in both office and manufacturing environments. Normal mobility is required to navigate an office setting, with the ability to perform standard tasks at a computer. Frequent exposure to varying temperatures within the plant based on external weather conditions. Regularly required to walk, stand, grip, bend, and lift/carry up to thirty (30) lbs. Occasionally may lift and carry up to fifty (50) lbs.
