About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Criminal Investigator to join our team at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. As a key member of our protective services team, you will be responsible for providing personal and executive protection for high-level government officials, including the United States Trade Representative.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Protection and Security: Provide close proximity protection for high-level government officials, including the United States Trade Representative, at all times, including during travel and in places they may occupy or visit.
  • Intelligence Gathering: Conduct thorough background checks and interviews to determine potential threats to the safety and security of our clients.
  • Emergency Response: Take immediate action in emergency situations, using extensive training and experience to quell disturbances and prevent assault.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Provide written reports on unusual incidents or occurrences while on duty.
  • Site Evaluation: Evaluate proposed sites and facilities to identify potential hazards to clients.
  • Protective Measures: Select and implement protective methods to ensure client safety.
Requirements:
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Background Investigation: Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and hold a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Drug Test: Must submit to a drug test and receive a negative test result prior to appointment.
  • Driver's License: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
Qualifications:
  • Training and Experience: Must have successfully completed a basic protective services training program or an accredited basic law enforcement training program.
  • Law Enforcement Experience: Must have one year of previous law enforcement experience.
  • Specialized Experience: Must have specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 or GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.
Education:
  • Degree: Must have a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Graduate Study: Must have a minimum of 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) of graduate study from an accredited institution.
Physical Requirements:
  • Physical Exertion: Must be able to perform moderate to arduous physical exertion, including walking and standing.
  • Manual Dexterity: Must have manual dexterity and sufficient vision to perform duties satisfactorily.
  • Hearing: Must have sufficiently good hearing to perform duties satisfactorily.
Working Conditions:
  • Work Environment: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities.
  • Work Settings: Must be able to work in a variety of settings, including offices, travel, and outdoor environments.
