Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Helicopter Electronic Systems Integration Engineer - Journeyman to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, integrating, and testing advanced avionics communication systems and data fusion technologies for military aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Systems Integration
    1. Lead the integration of avionics communication systems and data fusion technologies into Navy helicopter platforms.
    2. Ensure seamless interoperability between various avionics subsystems.
    3. Develop and implement integration plans, procedures, and schedules.
  2. Design and Development
    1. Support the specification, design, and development of advanced avionics communication systems and data fusion algorithms.
    2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.
    3. Conduct trade studies and analysis to determine optimal system configurations.
  3. Testing and Validation
    1. Develop and execute test plans for avionics communication systems and data fusion technologies.
    2. Coordinate and support system validation and verification activities, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing.
    3. Troubleshoot and resolve integration and performance issues.
  4. Documentation and Reporting
    1. Develop system and procurement requirements.
    2. Prepare technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), and test reports.
    3. Present findings and status updates to stakeholders and management.
    4. Ensure all documentation complies with military standards and regulatory requirements.
  5. Project Management
    1. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
    2. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for procurement of necessary components and systems.
    3. Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
  6. Acquisition and Documentation Development
    1. Assist in the development of proposals, statements of work (SOW), and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates for new projects and initiatives.
    2. Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and draft comprehensive, clear, and compliant documents.
    3. Ensure all documentation meets government standards and supports the program's strategic goals.
  7. Stakeholder Coordination
    1. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including other government agencies, industry partners, and academic institutions.
    2. Facilitate communication and collaboration to advance program initiatives.
    3. Represent the program in meetings and briefings as needed.
  8. Continuous Improvement
    1. Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
    2. Stay current with advancements in avionics communication technologies and data fusion methodologies.
    3. Recommend and implement innovative solutions to enhance system performance and capabilities.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance, required.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of experience performing the functional duties for this position.
  • Proven experience in avionics systems integration, with a focus on communications and data fusion technologies.
  • Strong understanding of military aircraft communication protocols (e.g., MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet).
  • Proficiency in systems engineering principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Desired Skillsets

  • Experience with rotary-wing aircraft and helicopter avionics systems.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles related to avionics systems.
  • Familiarity with military standards and regulations (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254)
