Job Description:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Fleet Maintenance Specialist at US Foods, Inc. is a critical role responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our fleet road equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, and more.
  • Perform preventative maintenance within company standards to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Document all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability accurately and efficiently.
  • Handle road service calls, perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed, and maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Manage inventory and proper recordkeeping, backing up other maintenance shop personnel when necessary.
Requirements:
  • 3 years of commercial Diesel mechanic or reefer experience, or 2 years of Diesel Mechanic exp with TK or Refrigeration certification.
  • Demonstrate diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs, successfully show independent analytical and problem-solving skills, and prior experience in administering appropriate PM programs.
  • Furnish own personal hand tools and adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
Salary and Benefits:

$26.00 per hour, plus comprehensive benefits starting day one, including medical, dental, vision, 401K, life insurance, and a $5,000 retention bonus for eligible new hires.

Working Conditions:

This role requires sitting occasionally, standing frequently, walking frequently, driving occasionally, lifting up to 120-150 pounds (with assistance), and pushing/pulling occasional item transmissions, tires & clutches. Ability to climb/balance occasionally, stoop/squat frequently, bend frequently, reach above shoulder occasionally, grasp objects frequently, manipulate objects frequently, twist occasionally.
