Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at US Foods, Inc. in a fleet maintenance expert role.

About the Role

In this position, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units. Your expertise will ensure compliance with state and federal trucking regulations.

You will perform preventative maintenance, log repairs, and handle road service calls while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Ideal candidates will have significant experience as a diesel mechanic or reefer technician.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with diesel equipment
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on fleet vehicles
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal trucking regulations
  • Document all repair orders and maintain accurate records
  • Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • 3 years of commercial diesel mechanic or reefer experience
  • OR 2 years of diesel mechanic experience with TK or Refrigeration certification
  • A strong ability to read and understand technical and service manuals
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities
  • The ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Benefits

We offer competitive compensation, starting at $26.00 per hour, plus benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401K, and life insurance. Eligible new hires will also receive a $5,000 retention bonus.

Work Environment

This role requires occasional lifting (up to 120-150 pounds), pushing/pulling, climbing/balancing, stooping/squatting, kneeling/bending, reaching above shoulder level, grasping objects, and manipulating objects. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing organizational needs.
