Job Overview: This position serves as the initial point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. Responsibilities include interviewing patients and their representatives to gather comprehensive demographic, financial, and insurance details necessary for billing and account management. The role involves thorough screening of Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care patients for pre-certification and eligibility prior to registration. It is essential to secure all required consents and coordinate the collection of estimated patient liabilities, including co-payments and outstanding deductibles. The position also requires verification of insurance benefits and coverage for both inpatients and outpatients, as well as responding to inquiries regarding service and account information.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Quality and Safety: Manage reservation requests from physician offices, ensuring timely pre-admission arrangements. Conduct interviews to collect accurate patient information and enter it into the registration system. Ensure all necessary signatures are obtained and assist patients with understanding special forms required by their insurance providers.
  • Customer Service: Greet all guests with professionalism and positivity. Safeguard patients' valuables and manage incoming calls effectively. Maintain courteous relationships with management, patients, and healthcare professionals, demonstrating the ability to handle challenging situations with tact.
  • Financial Management: Attempt to collect estimated self-pay balances from patients at the earliest opportunity. Document financial evaluations and maintain knowledge of healthcare financial assistance programs. Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless financial counseling and verification of insurance coverage.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare or corporate environment.
  • Proficient in computer/data entry and effective communication skills.
Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and familiarity with patient registration systems are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred, along with experience in Epic systems. Completion of onboarding training and passing the final exam within the designated timeframe is required.
