Job Overview: This position serves as the initial point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming experience. Responsibilities include interviewing patients and/or their representatives to gather comprehensive demographic, financial, and insurance details necessary for billing and account management. The role involves thorough screening of Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care patients for pre-certification requirements and eligibility for provider services prior to registration. Essential tasks include obtaining necessary consents and coordinating the collection of estimated patient liabilities, such as co-payments and unmet deductibles. Additionally, the position requires verifying insurance benefits and coverage for both inpatients and outpatients, responding to customer inquiries, and addressing concerns using established protocols. Proficiency in utilizing computer systems to access and update customer records is essential, as is the ability to verify and post transactions accurately. Core Responsibilities:
1. Quality/Safety: Receives reservation requests from physician offices and arranges pre-admission logistics, ensuring all patient information is accurately entered into the registration system. This includes obtaining necessary signatures and understanding special forms required by third-party payers. Assists in escorting patients to procedure areas and updates patient account information as needed. Maintains confidentiality of patient information in accordance with policies and regulations.
2. Customer Service: Greets all guests with professionalism and positivity. Handles incoming calls and maintains cooperative relationships with management, patients, and other professionals. Demonstrates the ability to manage challenging situations tactfully.
3. Budget/Financial: Engages in collecting estimated self-pay balances at the earliest opportunity, monitors accounts, and coordinates financial counseling with relevant departments. Documents all interactions and collection activities accurately.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
Required Skills: Computer/data entry experience, effective communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities are essential. Familiarity with patient registration systems and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred. Successful completion of onboarding training and exams is required within the specified timeframe.
