Job Opportunity - South Dakota Organizer

Dakota Rural Action (DRA) is seeking a dedicated team member to join our organization.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with staff and members of a fast-growing grassroots organization working in South Dakota. DRA's portfolio of work includes local and regional food systems, fighting pipelines and extractive energy projects, and policy supporting sustainable agriculture.

The organizer will work with DRA members and leaders on various campaigns, including renewable energy policies, rural electric cooperative reform, and informing people about programs and opportunities through the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with DRA members and leaders to develop and implement campaigns on renewable energy policies, rural electric cooperative reform, and other priority issues.
  • Organize statewide committees to coordinate actions on these campaigns.
  • Participate in Rural Power Coalition meetings and sit on the organizing subcommittee.
  • Lead DRA staff person for the Community Energy Development Committee, including expanding membership, building new leadership, and developing a statewide campaign.

What We Offer

DRA offers a competitive salary of $45,000, depending on experience, and generous benefits. The preferred start date is 6/1/2024.
