Physical Requirements:

This role necessitates the ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended durations; perform tasks involving repetitive motions (such as typing); occasionally stand or walk while handling objects weighing up to 10 pounds; lift, push, and/or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds; and face potential risks associated with moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials. Exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes, including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens, is also a consideration.


Shift:

Primarily Monday through Friday (2:00pm to 10:30pm); may include every 4th to 6th weekend as well as holidays per departmental need.


Job Summary:
Kentucky Children's Hospital is dedicated to delivering Pharmaceutical Care to pediatric and obstetric patients within an inpatient hospital environment. This position encompasses a blend of staffing and clinical responsibilities during evening hours. Responsibilities include consulting with physicians and other healthcare practitioners to enhance drug therapy, conducting pharmacokinetic monitoring, reviewing patient charts, responding to codes/ECMO, and providing additional clinical services as required. The role may involve mentoring PGY-2 pediatric specialty residents, PGY-1 pharmacy practice residents, and student pharmacists. It also includes reviewing, interpreting, and verifying written and electronic orders to ensure suitable drug therapy is prescribed for admitted patients. The pharmacist will oversee technical staff and pharmacy interns, ensuring the quality and accuracy of dispensed products, while maintaining inventory and records of narcotics and other medications.
The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum salary for this position will now be $114,697/year. All pay rates will be based on the candidate's experience.

Preferred Education/Experience:
PharmD degree preferred. ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
