Job Summary

The City of Oklahoma City is seeking a highly skilled Systems Support Specialist II to join our Technology Infrastructure Division. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical support for enterprise hardware components and software, troubleshoot system components, and implement new and replacement systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for enterprise hardware components and software, ensuring optimal system performance and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot system components, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Support a range of Information Technology programs, including Client Support, Network and Communications Infrastructure, Public Safety Communications, and Information Security.
  • May be responsible for making assignments and functionally supervising the work performance of the Systems Support Specialist I classification.
Requirements
  • Skill in researching and developing feasibility studies for technology solutions, analyzing data, and making informed recommendations.
  • Skill in communicating technical information to non-technical personnel, ensuring clear and concise communication.
  • Skill in developing effective system documentation, including user manuals, technical guides, and other supporting materials.
  • Knowledge of existing enterprise operating systems and productivity software, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory user and group administration principles, including user account management, group policy management, and directory services.
  • Knowledge of enterprise change management policies and procedures, including change request management, risk assessment, and impact analysis.
  • Knowledge of basic project management principles, including project planning, execution, monitoring, and control.
  • Ability to work independently or with others through coordinated efforts, demonstrating strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to perform as a first-level supervisor or team lead, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, with occasional local and out-of-town travel required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Skill in identifying patterns, assessing risks, and experience with security incident analysis, log analysis, and forensic investigations.
  • Skill in implementing and leveraging behavioral analytics platforms to detect anomalous activities, threat hunting, insider threat identification, and overall threat detection capabilities.
  • Knowledge of security operations principles, processes, and best practices, including security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
  • Skill in Next-generation firewall concepts, configuration, and administration, including firewall rule management and security policy enforcement.
  • Skill in developing, implementing, and managing automation solutions and playbooks to streamline departmental processes.

Working Conditions
  • Primarily indoors in a climate-controlled environment, with occasional exposure to moderate noise levels.
  • Occasionally required to work beyond normal work hours or to change work hours when conducting training or systems analyses.
  • Occasional local and out-of-town travel required, with valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
  • Strength enough to frequently lift, push, pull, or carry computer/network infrastructure components weighing up to 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
  • Arm-hand dexterity enough to demonstrate and operate keyboards, small diagnostic equipment, remove and replace small components from computer systems, network cabling, or other related hardware configurations.
  • Near vision enough to read training manuals, small component labeling on computer hardware components.
  • Hearing enough to understand and communicate by telephone and in person.
  • Speech enough to communicate by telephone and in person when conducting training or providing assistance.
  • Body dexterity to climb, bend, twist, and crawl in small or confined spaces.
