Job Overview

Position Title: Child Welfare Support Specialist

This role is essential in providing assistance within the child welfare system.

Compensation:

  • Level I H16A - $29, Comprehensive State Employee Benefits
  • Level II H16B - $31, Comprehensive State Employee Benefits
  • Level III H16C - $34, Comprehensive State Employee Benefits

Working Hours: 3:00 pm to 12:00 am, Monday through Friday

Additional hours worked outside of standard business hours (7 am - 6 pm) will be compensated with shift differential pay.

Frequent travel is required. A valid driver's license and maintenance of necessary car insurance are mandatory.

Qualifications Required:

Child Welfare Support Specialist I

  • Minimum of six months of experience in general office clerical work, child care in a licensed facility, sales, or public engagement.
  • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which may include six months of vocational training or 15 semester hours from an accredited institution.

Child Welfare Support Specialist II

  • At least one year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services setting.
  • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which may include thirty semester hours of college coursework.

Child Welfare Support Specialist III

  • One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services environment plus two additional years of clerical experience in child welfare.
  • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which may include thirty semester hours of college coursework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with case management tasks and provide support for Child Welfare Specialists (CWS), clients, and their families during non-office hours to improve after-hour permanency planning.
  • Perform administrative duties, including general office tasks, documentation input, data compilation, and scheduling meetings with clients and families.
  • Coordinate necessary appointments for medical visits, family interactions, court appearances, and arrange transportation for children awaiting placement or assessments.
  • Inform clients about available child welfare services and resources, providing detailed program information and referrals to community resources as needed.
