Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Assistant, Technician, Specialist II to provide high-quality technical assistance in various clinics and departments at the Oklahoma State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and assist year-four professional veterinary students in clinical settings.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies inventory in clinical areas to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide technical assistance in various clinics and departments, including small animal medicine and surgery, small animal ICU, equine medicine and surgery, and food animal medicine and surgery.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care and achieve optimal treatment outcomes.

Requirements:

  • High School/GED and two years related experience in animal care or a related field.
  • Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited program with two years related experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences or a related area.
  • DVM degree or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience in restraint of small and large animals, administering injections, and placement of IV catheters.
  • Knowledge of equipment used in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
  • Physical ability to lift animals weighing 80 pounds or greater.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology and five years experience as Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA.
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
  • Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS).
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision.
