Your Role as a Food Safety and Sanitation Supervisor

Ensure the highest standards of product quality and safety by overseeing the sanitation of all bakery machinery, structural facilities, and storage areas, adhering to Current Good Manufacturing Practices, as well as Federal, State, and local food safety regulations, while aligning with corporate initiatives to deliver safe, quality food to consumers.


Location:
Chicago, IL Manufacturing Plant

Work Arrangements: 100% on-site

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, assess, inspire, and direct sanitation efforts for Plant Sanitation teams.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate protocols and systems for monitoring food safety and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Oversee planning, organization, and execution of sanitation budget compliance.
  • Conduct inspections, provide monitoring, and educate departments on food safety and sanitary practices within the facility.
  • Promote safety through established work procedures, organized workspaces, and employee safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with labor relations and contractual obligations.
  • Uphold Company EEO policies and other local employment standards.
  • Possess a general understanding of equipment utilized in bakeries and depots for the production, storage, and transfer of goods.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning methodologies for that equipment.
  • Set and Achieve Goals - Effectively coach, train, and communicate with staff to ensure sanitation objectives are met.
  • Exhibit strong planning and organizational capabilities.
  • Possess skills in employee communication and motivation.
  • Understand environmental, HVAC, and safety considerations.
  • Have a working knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).
  • Understand allergen and mold management issues.
  • Be knowledgeable about food manufacturing pest control regulations and requirements.
  • Demonstrate leadership through empowerment, collaboration, motivation, and enthusiasm, effectively implementing sanitation programs through communication and technical training.
What We Seek:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing setting.
  • At least 3 years of experience as an Assistant Manager or Supervisor in food manufacturing preferred.
Additional Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in personal computer applications, including MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in scheduling, training, and managing teams.
  • Knowledge and experience in the safe use of sanitation chemicals; certification in chemicals is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with AIB (American Institute of Baking), regulatory bodies (FDA, USDA, Department of Agriculture), and BRC or similar inspection standards.
  • Understanding of SSOPs, LOTO, GMPs, and policies related to food manufacturing sanitation.
