About The Learning Center:
The Learning Center for the Deaf is a nationally recognized provider of services for deaf and hard of hearing individuals, including children, adults, and families.
Role Summary:
The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive audiological services to both pediatric and adult outpatient populations. Responsibilities include conducting thorough assessments, providing counseling, and maintaining communication with medical and educational referral sources as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver complete audiological services to outpatient clients, encompassing medical history reviews, testing, counseling, and documentation.
- Conduct evaluations, fittings, adjustments, and repairs of hearing aids, including in-house and factory processing. Educate patients on advanced hearing aid technology and assistive listening devices, addressing any concerns regarding device performance.
- Perform cochlear implant candidacy evaluations, initial activations, and follow-up programming, demonstrating familiarity with various cochlear implant manufacturers or a willingness to learn.
- Provide evidence-based care in accordance with national standards and guidelines.
- Engage in ongoing education regarding advancements in hearing aid and cochlear implant technology, including training sessions offered by manufacturers.
- Support community outreach initiatives by conducting hearing screenings and educational presentations at local organizations.
- Additional responsibilities may include clinical clerical tasks, supply management, and adherence to infection control protocols to ensure high patient satisfaction.
- Other duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) or Ph.D. from an accredited institution.
- Valid Massachusetts State Licensure.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association.
- A minimum of three years of experience in providing audiological services to both pediatric and adult populations.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred; willingness to learn is required.
