Position Summary:
The Classroom Support Specialist assists educators in addressing the physical and instructional needs of students, while also catering to additional classroom requirements. Responsibilities include designing instructional materials and facilitating various activities. The role involves direct supervision and monitoring of students' work in both individual and small group settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist educators in preparing instructional materials and classroom visuals.
- Conduct instructional activities as directed by the educator, working with individuals or small groups while adapting to students' unique needs.
- Participate in the collection, documentation, and analysis of student data.
- Take responsibility for supervising and instructing students in the absence of the educator.
- Support students with physical disabilities in accordance with their medical and personal needs.
- Monitor and escort students to and from various activities.
- Implement behavior management strategies for individual students under the educator's guidance.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED certificate.
- Conversational fluency in American Sign Language is required; native or near-native fluency is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an educational team.
- Prior experience working with children is preferred.
- Capacity to communicate effectively and constructively utilize feedback regarding job performance.
