Compensation: $123,650 to $215,080, based on geographic salary differentials.

Position Overview:

The Principal Engineer for the Treatment Group will engage with clients and internal teams on technical matters related to the planning and design of water and wastewater treatment projects. Responsibilities include business development, proposal writing, and managing project phases from initial planning through design and construction support.

The ideal candidate will be driven to enhance our service capabilities, fostering client relationships and mentoring team members. This role will provide essential support to the Treatment Business Sector Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead engineering design efforts, preparing reports, construction documents, specifications, and calculations for diverse projects. Ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and nurture client relationships, developing proposals and budgets while assessing project scope and staffing needs.
  • Maintain ongoing client engagement throughout project lifecycles, fostering relationships through active involvement.
  • Utilize technical expertise to produce studies, reports, and designs for water and wastewater systems.
  • Manage workload projections for all assigned projects, collaborating with other engineers to balance team demands.
  • Advise senior management on staffing and resource needs, allocating personnel effectively.
  • Conduct technical reviews of staff outputs, providing guidance and preparing cost estimates for projects.
  • Act as Project Manager or team member on significant design and construction initiatives, overseeing project timelines and budgets.
  • Mentor engineering staff, serving as a technical resource and contributing to professional development.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing through technical publications and presentations.
  • Ensure quality assurance for plans and contract documents related to specialty areas.
  • Coordinate with accounting to meet client invoicing requirements and prepare timely invoices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience in civil engineering consulting or management.
  • Strong writing and communication skills are essential.
  • PE licensure in California and/or Oregon, or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
Travel Requirements:

This position may involve travel to various offices and client locations. A valid driver's license is required.
