Job Overview and Responsibilities

As a Hydroelectric Plant Technician II, you will operate under the supervision of a Hydroelectric Plant Technician Supervisor, receiving guidance from a senior technician. Your role involves executing intricate technical tasks related to control, communication, electrical, and mechanical systems associated with the operation and upkeep of State Water Project (SWP) generating and pumping facilities, switchyards, and water conveyance systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform complex technical work on various equipment and systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  2. Adhere to safety protocols while working in environments with loud machinery.
  3. Collaborate effectively with team members and work independently when required.
  4. Participate in ongoing training and safety programs to maintain compliance with industry standards.

Physical Requirements:

This position necessitates the following physical capabilities:

  1. Ability to lift and transport equipment or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  2. Stamina to bend, stoop, kneel, and stretch for equipment access and installation.
  3. Capability to climb ladders and scaffolding to perform necessary tasks.
  4. Manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment.

Work Environment:

The role involves working in confined spaces and around heavy machinery, requiring adherence to safety precautions and protocols. Candidates must possess a valid California Driver License for travel between facilities.
