We are a comprehensive geotechnical engineering consulting firm with a century of expertise, currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to bolster our operations in Northern California.

You will play a pivotal role in expanding the geotechnical engineering practice within our Northern California office, supported by our Southern California team.


Applicants should possess a track record of escalating responsibilities and a minimum of six years' experience in the field of geotechnical engineering.

This role requires a presence in Northern California. Relocation assistance is available.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage geotechnical engineering assessments for a variety of projects.
• Provide senior-level review and guidance on geotechnical engineering practices.
• Prepare proposals for subsurface investigations and assist in marketing efforts.
• Mentor and support the technical development of engineering personnel.

• Collaborate with marketing to drive business development, including participating in interviews as a geotechnical expert and evaluating RFPs/RFQs for proposal development.


Essential Qualifications:
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil or geotechnical engineering.
• Strong understanding of both design and construction aspects of geotechnical engineering.
• Proficient in shallow and deep foundation design, including Caltrans specifications for bridge foundations, retaining walls, MSE walls, and pavements.
• Experience in designing mat-type foundations and establishing design parameters.
• Familiarity with software tools such as Settle3D, Slide, AllPile, L-Pile, Shaft, CLiq, and LiquefyPro.

• Experience with field infiltration testing methods and the development of design infiltration rates according to local guidelines.

• Excellent technical writing skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and clients.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to devise alternative solutions to complex problems.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience conducting site-specific ground motion studies, including time-history analyses.
• Knowledge of cement- and lime-treated mix design and its field application.
• Proven track record of successful interactions with regulatory reviewers.
• Experience in marketing geotechnical engineering services to government agencies.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a team of engineers and soil technicians.
