Your Role

We are seeking a seasoned engineer with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience in the planning and design of river, stream, and floodplain projects.

In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of ecologists, landscape architects, engineers, and scientists to deliver innovative solutions in complex ecological environments.

The selected candidate will engage in various projects focused on mitigation, restoration, flood risk management, and infrastructure protection for both public and private clients.

Project Types Include:
  • Habitat restoration and enhancement for rivers and streams
  • Improvements for fish passage
  • Assessment and planning for watersheds and floodplains
  • Restoration of coastal habitats
  • Stabilization of river and stream banks
  • Flood control initiatives
  • Infrastructure development and safeguarding
  • Support for additional engineering and surface water management projects
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in the design and development of river restoration and floodplain management projects
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, or a master's degree if the undergraduate degree was not in engineering
  • Current professional engineer (PE) license in California, Washington, and/or Oregon, or the ability to obtain one through comity
  • Knowledge of environmental policies and local permitting requirements in Western states

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of watershed characteristics and processes along the West Coast
  • Experience in preparing design plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Ability to manage design tasks through to completion
  • Business development experience with established client relationships
  • Proficiency in developing scopes of work and budgets
  • Strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in civil engineering or environmental science with a focus on aquatic ecosystem restoration
  • Project management experience in floodplain and restoration design
  • Experience with fish passage analysis and design
  • Construction management and inspection experience
  • Familiarity with hydrologic analysis and modeling techniques
  • Hydraulic modeling experience
  • Permit application experience in California and other Western states
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and ArcGIS
  • Experience with field data collection
