About the Role

The Center for Global Development is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Vice President for Strategy and Research. This role will play a critical part in shaping the organization's vision and strategy, overseeing research processes, and promoting analysis and bold thinking around major issues and trends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management of portfolios related to substantive areas of expertise
  • Serve as a senior policy fellow, actively engaging in research and analysis related to CGD's work
  • Support the President in developing a future vision for CGD that is grounded in evidence and focused on innovative policy outcomes
  • Manage the development and execution of CGD strategic priorities and ensure program goals and activities align with these priorities
  • Lead a research process that supports the development and delivery of high-impact research products
  • Motivate and support research staff in pursuing bold ideas and translating evidence-based ideas into engagement that shapes policy outcomes
  • Drive collaboration and convenings that generate research on major cross-cutting issues and trends
  • Support the development and execution of strategic research partnerships
  • Partner with policy outreach directors to elevate CGD's public profile and devise strategies to increase its policy impact
  • Manage partnerships with funders to build strong, trusting, and substantive long-term relationships

  • Strong record of research and publication
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic priorities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in research and policy analysis
What We Offer

The Center for Global Development offers a competitive salary range of $275,000 - $300,000, commensurate with education, skillset, and experience. We also offer a hybrid work arrangement, with all staff required to be in the office at least two days per week. CGD is registered to employ staff living in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and candidates must be able to declare a primary residence in one of these locations. We will sponsor United States work authorization for this position.
