Acord (Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development) is seeking a skilled and seasoned operations leader to fill the role of Vice President of Operations. This position is essential in collaborating with the executive team and staff to steer and enhance the organizational and member operations in alignment with Acord's strategic vision.

Position Overview

The Vice President of Operations reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and leads a team of professionals with extensive expertise in various operational functions, including finance, member engagement, and event management. This role serves as a strategic ally to the CEO, contributing to vital operational and strategic objectives, such as planning, organizational efficiency, innovation, and fostering a sense of community.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Direct the development, execution, and management of Acord's strategic initiatives and budget.
  • Ensure that daily operations are agile and aligned with the organizational vision.
  • Actively participate as a member of the leadership team, facilitating collaboration and progress.
  • Exemplify and promote Acord's values and culture.
  • Represent the organization in various forums and initiatives.
  • Provide leadership to designated committees and task forces.

Membership Engagement

  • Oversee efforts to attract and retain institutional members, ensuring services and programs are relevant and beneficial.
  • Manage networking and engagement opportunities, including annual meetings and member retreats, ensuring they are innovative and pertinent.

Operational Management

  • Lead the organization's internal operational and financial processes.
  • Supervise finance, human resources, operations, and grants management.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with professional associations and vendors.
  • Create effective metrics to assess the efficiency of internal and external processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant organizational requirements.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of ten years in senior leadership roles, preferably within non-profit organizations.
  • Experience in association management.
  • Strategic thinking capabilities to develop opportunities that advance the organization's mission.
  • Proven track record in fostering a cohesive work environment.
  • Expertise in project management and strategic initiative advancement.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget development and oversight.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of organizational change management principles.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A solid understanding of business strategies and acumen.
  • Familiarity with the higher education sector and health professions education.
  • A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred.
