Located in Washington, DC, the Senior Vice President (SVP) for Strategy and Research at CGD works directly under the President of CGD.

The SVP serves as a strategic partner to the President and plays a pivotal role in various domains, including formulating a vision and strategy for CGD that aligns with major shifts in the global development and geopolitical landscape; overseeing a research agenda that culminates in the publication of rigorous, relevant, and impactful outputs; and fostering analysis and innovative thinking around pressing issues and trends.

Additionally, the SVP will possess a robust history of research and publication, which they will continue to pursue as a Senior Fellow.


Key Responsibilities:


Lead and manage portfolios in areas of expertise;Act as a senior policy fellow, engaging actively in research and analysis pertinent to CGD's initiatives;Assist the President in crafting a future vision for CGD that is evidence-based, focused on innovative policy outcomes, and responsive to the evolving development and geopolitical landscape;Oversee the formulation and implementation of CGD's strategic priorities, ensuring alignment with program goals and activities;Direct a research process that facilitates the development and dissemination of both academic and policy-oriented research that is innovative, rigorous, and impactful, including through discussions and peer reviews by CGD and external experts;Inspire and support research staff in pursuing bold ideas and translating evidence-based concepts into engagements that influence policy outcomes;Encourage collaboration and convenings that generate research on significant cross-cutting issues and trends beyond specific sectors, including initiatives that span CGD programs;Facilitate the establishment and execution of strategic research partnerships, including collaborations with academic institutions and organizations;Lead the development and execution of strategic partnerships, in conjunction with program and policy outreach directors, to enhance CGD's policy impact in a dynamic geopolitical and development context;Collaborate with policy outreach directors to devise and implement strategies to elevate CGD's public profile;Manage relationships with funders, in partnership with the senior director for institutional advancement, to cultivate strong, trusting, and substantive long-term relationships, ensuring coordinated oversight across grants and funding proposals;Work alongside the communications director to amplify the profile and reach of CGD and its research and ideas, including through events, press, and other outreach channels;Engage key stakeholders and the public to enhance the visibility and impact of CGD and its research;Serve as a member of CGD's leadership team and lead or participate in organizational initiatives as assigned.


Compensation:
$275,000 - $300,000. Salary commensurate with education, skills, and experience.

The organization operates in a hybrid model, requiring all staff to be in the office at least two days per week.

CGD is authorized to employ staff residing in specific regions. Candidates must be able to declare a primary residence in one of these designated areas.

In compliance with federal law, all hires will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the necessary employment eligibility verification documentation upon hire.

CGD will sponsor work authorization for this position.
